It definitely does run in Windows 8. I'm honestly not sure about the specific problem you are having but I can most certain verify that the game does run under Windows 8.
The game opens but only appears in the task manager. as Sims 3 (32 bits).

Don't have Windows 8, look up "Compatibility Mode for Windows 8", if Windows 8 has it, you should be able to use it to run the Sims.....

It doesn't need compatibility mode. It just works normally under Windows 8. Always has for me. I think something else is wrong. This last update hosed a lot of stuff.

And it's normal that it will appear as 32 bit in the task manager it is a 32 bit application, as are most games. That's not the problem.

Try this, go to your documents>Electronic Arts>The Sims 3 folder and move it to your desktop or someplace else you can find easy. Then restart game as that folder is missing the game will generate a factory standard virgin version of the folder. With no mods, added content other than the dlcs and stuffpacks and basic game items that your have installed. Just as if you are playing it for the first time. If the game works fine at that point it is either a mod or corrupted CC Item that you have to track down in your old Documents>Electronic Arts>the Sims 3 Folder. Most of the time before a patch is applied it is recommended by Ea that you remove your mods folder from same location, as some of the new patches, DLCS can screw up a old mod.

There is one disc that came with the maschine:
Run that and your problems will be fiksed, mine just did. :D
And I am so happy, and I am sure u will be too after running the disc. =)

Sims 3 definitely works normally under Windows 8 64-bit, as that's what I have and it works for me.

You may want to start with some basic troubleshooting:
  • Verify your game cache from the Steam library.
  • Ensure your chipset, video, and audio drivers are up to date.
  • Restore your game to factory defaults, and see if it runs then.
Does it work for windows 8 huh or no
Wait does it work on steam
now it works, has now been corrected.
