is it still possible to mod the game ????
and in modding i mean, i knew when i still had this game retail version, you could just download some wallpaper skins, other carpets, and some couches from like any other sim site.... put them in somesort of directory, and have them ingame......

Now with steam im wondering if that is still possible, just to add induvidual things, to have more wallpapers, carpets, and things like that ........

Id like to buy it, but before thati i want to know if its is still possible, or if i will have to buy expansions to have a few wallpapaers and carpets more ....

also...... i would like to know wich expansions are worth it, i know there are alot of threads about this, but i was thinking about just taking seasons, and ambitions, because they are not really game changing, as in having magic or stuff like that , but still adding enough to expand the experience.....

Would there be more expansions i would like you think ???

ye, well, since steam has a data check built in, i dont know if it will still use the "packages" files, even if they are in the right place, logic would say it will work, but i dont know for sure.

I loved, finding seperate items online, and just put them ingame, i could buy expansions ofcourse, but that will never get you so many items, as when u could just download them everywhere, and have them ingame. ...

You can still download and install mods from Sims fan sites for Sims 3. As others have said, you have to know how to install, and where to put the DLC. Be careful though, there's a lot of bad mods out there which will crash your game.

Um yes.
All you need to do is open your save file folder, make a new folder called DOWNLOADS, and there.

You need to make a mods fold in your Documents/Electronic arts/Sims3/ called ''Mods'' in that you will need to make a map called ''Packages'' you need to name it exactly like that in order to make it work these maps will not be generated by simply launching the Sims 3 like other maps will do. Outside that im 100% sure that you need a file called Resource.cfg theres no need to stress in case you do need one you can make one by pasting

Priority 501
DirectoryFiles Files/... autoupdate
Priority 1000
PackedFile Overrides/*.package
PackedFile Overrides/*/*.package
PackedFile Overrides/*/*/*.package
PackedFile Overrides/*/*/*/*.package
PackedFile Overrides/*/*/*/*/*.package
Priority 500
PackedFile Packages/*.package
PackedFile Packages/*/*.package
PackedFile Packages/*/*/*.package
PackedFile Packages/*/*/*/*.package
PackedFile Packages/*/*/*/*/*.package
Priority 499
PackedFile Test/*.package
PackedFile Test/*/*.package
PackedFile Test/*/*/*.package
PackedFile Test/*/*/*/*.package
PackedFile Test/*/*/*/*/*.package
Priority -50
PackedFile Probation/*.package
PackedFile Probation/*/*.package
PackedFile Probation/*/*/*.package
PackedFile Probation/*/*/*/*.package
PackedFile Probation/*/*/*/*/*.package
Priority 500
PackedFile DCCache/*.dbc

in the .cfg file YOU WILL NEED THIS TO MAKE THEM LOAD! and you should move this file to Documents/Electronic arts/Sims 3/Mods Do not paste it into the packages folder.
by this you can add real ''MODS'' like increased Sliders, MasterController etc.
You can't and i seriously mean can't get any ''MODS'' from the sims 3 community by that i mean the exchange or the market. a mod that will basicly extend the options is the MasterControllerMod wich i use and think its very good can be found by this link: http://nraas.wikispaces.com/MasterController also on this site they will explain/also link the stuff you will need in order to make ''MODS'' work.
I hope this will help you.
