Is the Steam DLC for Sims 3 compatible with the base game on disk?

So my girlfriends birthday is coming up and I would love to get her a couple of expansions for the game. She bought the base game disk at launch and the Pets, Ambitions and World Adventures expansions packs later on, also on disk. If she installs Steam on her PC and adds the game to the library will she be able to play all of her previous expansions too, or is that just not possible?

If anyone has any experience with this please let me know, I would love to find some kind of workaroud. Thank you!

Yes & NO.
You can buy the DLC or Expansions and Activate on Origin without issue. However, in oprder to do so you must own the base Sims 3 game on STEAM in order to view the CD Key and purchase it.

I had it and play it on Origin as well, this game just works better there IMHO.
But, during the Big winter sale I just bought base game here for future DLC sales. It will end up being cheaper buying the base game on steam so you can get discounted expansion in the long run, but wether youre willing to do that is your call.

YES ... But you need the base game on Steam.

You can NOT buy at EA/Origin and activate on Steam though.
