Sims 3 on LInux Ubuntu 12.10 Please help me, I would be so grateful! :)
Hey all,

So I have Ubuntu 12.10 and as far as I know I have Wine and Play on Linux installed. I try to run the Sims 3 on Steam, but a little box will just pop up saying "beginning installation" or some such thing for maybe a second, then the box dissapears, my screen flickers and nothing happens.

Can someone give me some pointers here on how to get this game to work? I would really appreciate it. Thank you so much, I love this game and really want to play it.

Wine is always a hit or miss. One thing you can try is running an already-installed or cracked copy that is a "run and play" and doesn't require installation, those can sometimes run better in Wine.

The WineHQ website has tips for getting games to work, so check that out. I've given up and simply dual boot for a few Windows games.

Also, PlayOnLinux could be useful.
