Worth it without DLCs?
Hey guys, just wondering whether this game is worth to get it?
I played Sims 2 but then, and loved it and had alot of fun.
However as EA's milking scheme got the better of them, they released a shiton of DLCs.. ($500 worth)
Is the base game good enough without those additional stuff?

The base game is solid but some of the expansions really add fun features. It really depends on how you play the game. If you're really craving some Sims, then yeah, buy it. If it's not an urgent itch to scratch then just wait for a sale to go on.

Well it depends really, however vehicles(cars and bicycles) are already in the base game, unlike Sims 2 you'd need nightlife expansion pack to get vehicles.

But if you like pets, or viarety of weathers, you'll have to bring in some DLCs for that matter then.
I did play the base game itself, before the expansion packs were released, and I had alot of fun, but I truly can't be without the DLCs. I agree, EA is trying to split the features even more than in Sims 2 to make a larger profit in this one. But I can't resist Sims.

i would say yes , you can always add the DLC's later and play another game . Sims 3 on its own has more to do than sims 2 with a few DLC's easily . The open world is such a step forward.

I don't regret buying any of the DLC's , though some i got cheap , sims 3 has been one of my favourite games of all time. With all the DLC's (well most of them) there is just so much to do.
I have been pretty disapointed with most dlcs, but I know Seasons and University Life will be good.

I have seasons and pets and my game is more interresting than before I got the EPs
The game is fun without DLC, but a few of the the DLC packs are really nice add-ons.

Particularly Seasons and Pets, Ambitions too. If you do pick up any DLC, those are the ones I would recommend. University is likely one of the better ones as well, but I've not tried it.

Everything else is so-so, unless you want exactly what it adds.

The stuff packs (new outfits and furniture) are all trash for way too much cash, avoid those.

I'd say stick with the base game until they put the DLC on sale. Then, if you have the cash, you can swoop up the 4 or 5 better ones for about 20-25 bucks.

They cost way too much currently and aren't worth that much cash at all. Hell, I could probably buy the entire Indie game category with the combined Sims 3 DLC prices. It might remedy some of the pirating problems they have if they'd knock a good 10 or 15 bucks off those bad boys, permanently.
