They only do support by a ticket system. (These instructions are for going to support through a browser.) Go to the website (store.steampowered.com), and follow the link for "SUPPORT" at the upper right.

There select the product you're having an issue with (e.g., The Sims 3). Select the problem (e.g., "I purchased by accident" or whatever), and follow through. You'll eventually be able to select a ticket if it's a problem with purchase or download. (For all other issues, EA is the support.)

Steam is one of those businesses that will do everything in their power to avoid having to speak to someone directly. This is mostly because if they didn't do this countless ignorant people would contact them about glitches with their games that the games' developers are responsible for.

I don't think steam is trying to avoid people but they can't fix other developers games. But i sometimes think i would be nice to be able to write directly to them and not constantly being redirectet to other developers sites. I recently had a problem with a game that wouldn't start like not even try to start just doing nothing. So i tried to contact steam support and they sent me to the developer. But the problem was at steams end and there were no way to contact them and the develpors of the game couldn't do anything about it.

It's really not true that there's "no way" to contact Steam. Every time I've needed them, it's been easy to get through and the issue has been resolved within a couple days.

It's as simple as going to the "Support" link and following the flow until you reach "Contact Steam Support".
