This was one of the first modern racing games I played. I hadn't played a racing game in quite a while beforehand.
.. and I was disappointed. I remember playing Hot Pursuit 2 in the past on the Gamecube? or some console around that time and it was pretty cool.. it had good visuals for its time, an awesome soundtrack, fun levels, and a great car selection complete with the ability to freely set up tracks and play as you want alone or with friends. That was a cool game.
This one isn't.
Visually it looks good. The music is.. meh. The music is boring. The title or level select screens don't have that awesome upbeat style the older Hot Pursuit games did. Its so dark and boring.
The actual levels have a limited selection of vehicles of choice. The sense of speed is pretty good, but the levels are very very basic. Despite being a more arcadey game, it kind of felt like you should just play a racing simulator instead.
Its like, a weird in-between of arcadey awesome and simulation and fails to deliver on either.
There are some more arcadey game modes where you drop spike traps and things like that and they're just boring. Being chased by cops is dull.
The whole game is incredibly bland. Oh, and there isn't even a free-play mode where you choose a level and any car you
want + other settings like cops on or off, difficulty, and a bunch of other things the old NFS games had.
Yeah, that doesn't exist at all. There's multiplayer but I never tried it. All you get is a singleplayer campaign with no story and limitations.
Maybe I didn't give it enough of a chance but I found myself tired of it too early on to keep playing.
This game just isn't very good and there are much better racing games out there.
