I can't play this.
I don't mean that it doesn't work, I mean that I find it literally unplayable.
After the initial "Origin" portion of the game, your beginning has little to no effect on the rest of your playtime. Characters are mostly uninteresting and annoying at worst. There isn't an emphasis on or reason why you would want any particular character in your party. It mostly comes down to whose dialogue you can stand. On that note, voice acting is the best feature of the game.
Quests are unengaging, mostly errands that reward you with gold. There are so many side quests that I do not remember what the main storyline is anymore. All I know is that we have to beat the Darkspawn (worst antagonists ever.) If you do get a reward item or find a piece of loot, it feels bland and is indistinguishable from what you can buy at a vendor.
Skills and talents are a nightmare. It's impossible to tell what an ability actually does beyond each vague description. I still do not know what the difference between Shield Wall and Shield Defense is; they are both sustained abilities that "improve defense." Furthermore, there are a number of seemingly useless skills that are required to obtain useful ones and other skills you would never take in the first place. In this sense, leveling up is entirely tedious and unrewarding.
Combat is the worst part of this game. Every time you enter a new zone (which is like every 20 seconds of running) you have to fight 20 enemies. I barely scrape by each battle, even on the easiest difficulty. Again, most abilities feel completely useless in combat. They simply do not have a meaningful impact on the situation. You can knock a guy down, but he gets back up in two seconds and nothing has changed. Crowd Control almost doesn't exist. There are tactics presets and conditions you can add so that your characters can fight semi-autonomously, but the execution of these tactics is simply disfunctional. If you end up dying, you might lose a few hours of progress just because you don't save every 10 minutes. Combat is the most frustrating part of the game, and that's what you'll spend 90% of your time doing.
I have spent 27 excruciating hours on this game and I don't intend to spend any more. This game isn't interesting enough to overlook the laborious (in the unpleasant sense) combat and tedious questing. I wouldn't tell someone to buy this for $5. Play at your own risk, I cannot garauntee any satisfaction.
