This was my first AAA purchase, i bought it years ago on the 360, back when i was a console peasant. This was, is, and always will be a favourite of mine, not too puzzling, dificulty scales well, still quite spooky, and smoth combat that is rarely interupted, but makes great use of hitboxes. Ragdoll physics and gib physics cobine almost seamlessly, along with excellent responsiveness to one's intended target. AKA you shoot leg, leg gets cut off where you shot it and ragdolls instantly. This game may also have inspired the, dare i mention it, death fetish tomb raider, better known as tomb raider 2013 however. Language, though not censored, is nowhere near oppressive and is taken in great moderation without sparing the story of emotion. gore, well, i mean if you're playing a zombie horror game but not wanting to see any gore you must be doing it wrong. on the topic of zombie horror, however, DS2 manages to capture the classic feeling of fear that comes with the collapse of society due to an outbreak, but also manages to make the zombies themselves terrifying and wastes no time plunging the player into a high-octane hook showcasing some of the creatures while instilling the initial fear into the player. Tutorial is simple and unobtrusive, albeit drawn out just a bit long (if you consider the first store the end of the tutorial) but does it's job better than most, if not all AAA titles these days, teaching the player how to use the more tactical and less practical skills to ensure that they can learn how to combine them with gunplay and running for your life for an effective strategy later in the game.
PC port needs a little bit of bug fixing after all these years and the multiplayer felt like an ever so slightly poorly executed version of L4D2, at least on the 360.
the minimum system requirements are way above what you will need to play, i managed a solid 40 FPS average on a 1.7 ghz processor, far less than their suggested 2.8
