agree...
i am so happy about EA give us FREE DLC
but they should also give us an option to hide those stuff

Now the only solution is pretend those ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ are not there -.-
Please, enlighten me on how having DLC given to you free and having it cost nothing in the store is ruining your game for you? It’s not like EA is putting it in your inventory and wasting space, it’s there if you want to use it but you don’t have to. I started playing Dead Space 2 on steam and haven’t picked up a single piece of the DLC that was listed as 0 credits.

The only thing ruining your game is you.
Simply because i have no possibility to turn of the DCL. Every item in the first store is free for me, doesn't that ruin the game? Idiot.
Everything that is extra content and was released as DLC is free. Everything that came with the core game still has a cost and still requires you to not only find the schematic and pay credits for it. You don’t have to buy the stuff that costs 0 credits and not buying it won’t hinder your game experience. While I agree with DarKness.CK that they really should have put a hide DLC button in there, not having it in no way ruins your experience as you are not forced to use the items in the store that come at no charge.

If being an educated gamer makes me an idiot, then you must be pretty smart.
educated gamer? yeah right, you didn't really listen to me. EVERYTHING in the first store is free. If you don't know anything about this there is no reason for you argumenting. This ruins my game, I just can't go through the game pretending that there's no free items. That shouldn't be the way you play games. It's like if every game had a button where you could cheat.

I listened to you and I'm telling you you're wrong, I started playing Dead Space 2 less than a week ago, and when I was at the first store, everything that wasn't DLC still cost me credits. I bought the appropriate Level 1 suit and paid 1,000 credits for it, and later when I got the schematics for the Pulse Rifle I bought it for however much it was. The stuff that was not DLC still costs in game credits, the only down side is that you no longer need schematics for ammunition which is a bummer but not game breaking if you still need to find the schematics for the guns that are in the original game.

I’m sorry this is game breaking for you, I really am. I have just come to ignore it and honestly I don’t even view it as an option as I want the authentic Dead Space 2 experience. If it bugs you that much and you can’t ignore it one suggestion I can give to you is that you take the key the game gave you and register Dead Space 2 with Origin. That version of the game does not come with the DLC installed.

Thank you, that was a much better answer. :)
As far as I can tell, it is just an icon that gives you a heads up of the kinds of properties on the suit without actually having to hover over it. I've only briefly glanced over what each suit and weapon does, but that is the conclusion I have drawn. Especially since my refurbished Plasma Cutter and Engineering suit have no such symbols.
I just bought Dead Space 1 & 2 last month, and not all the items in the store were immeaditly avalible, and I also had to pay for them.
I found this highly immersion breaking too. Apparently they added all the DLC in a patch.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
>>>>>>>>>>> HOW I FIXED IT <<<<<<<<<<<<<
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

1) Acquire the original pre-patch exe file: http://depositfiles.com/files/poc5ygicn
2) Backup the current exe by renaming it - for me the location is C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\dead space 2
3) Put the new pre-patch exe in the Dead Space 2 folder
4) To prevent it from being automatically "fixed" by steam, right-click on Dead Space 2 in steam, go to properties > updates > "do not automatically update this game"

You should be able to start the game normally through steam, and continue your old game.

Note: If you have any controls set to non-standard mouse buttons, you may have to reset your controls as this wasn't supported pre-patch.

Also, pre-patch, the game wouldn't properly unlock 2 suits you were supposed to get for completing Zealot and Hardcore difficulty. Apparently you can start the game with any of the exe files, and presumably you could use the post-patch file when beating the game, but I haven't gotten far enough to try that yet.

Edit: Apparently this also breaks hardcore mode, as pre-patch it wouldn't properly limit your saves to 3.

Same thing happend to me, the necros not so scary when you are armed to the theeth :\
actually, i kind of agree with darkness, i don't want free stuff, i want the regular game.
it makes me feel i'm playing with cheat codes enabled, and i hate cheat codes :/

so, yep, no choice but play and pretend free stuff is not here.
ugh. I had no idea. This explains a lot. I thought the store and upgrading made no sense, but now I know I am playing with free stuff I shouldn't have? My pride over being able to play on Normal difficulty is subsiding. :(
Yeah, cheer up! they gave us all free dlc! but anyways, they aren't overpowered or anything, and you can just ignore them until you think it's right to take some, like I did.
people complain about everything these days
