the progress save and check point saves are to accomodate for the co-op... think about it... when someone joins or vice versa, the host has the option to start from previous check point or continue to the next one, then the person joining just appears at the check point. if the check points were too far apart, the partner would never join...
one thing i noticed is that to roll, the tutorial says to double tap the button, which is in the console, however, i have it set as a button itself... clearly its a console port, as the tutorial is the same with the double tap... btw, i had issues with the save once, but that was due to a disconnection from the servers. nothing otherwise.
