Not at all. But it's in the similar genre, of words typed on screen. Give it a shot, think nothing about it, just dive in :Silver_Morikawa:

It's an adventure game with so much text that most people call it a visual novel, so... it's similar in that respect, but the structure is very different.

That said, Danganronpa was heavily inspired by TSC and references it. So there's a bit of lineage there.

But does it still has crime mysteries like Danganronpa or Ace Attorney? Cause that was my main reason to buy those two games.

Its a visual novel, so its mostly a story with gameplay that doesnt impact the plot.

But yeah, it has crime/mistery/conspiracy. It a game that you need to pay alot of attention and have kind of an open mind because it has a slight twin peaks vibe.

Hey, not sure if you're still interested in the game since this topic is 2 months old, but yeah, they're pretty similar in that there's alot of text and you have to investigate the scene, interrogate people, similar subject matters, heavily story-based etc.

However, unlike in DR and AA, you don't actually take an active role while solving crimes, in fact the game pretty much does it for you. Many things are left in the dark and you can only speculate as to what happened, but ultimately your own reasoning doesn't matter outside of some easy achievements and puzzles (that you can just skip through anyway).

To use an analogy, it's as if you played Danganronpa 1 as Togami instead of Naegi: You investigate and stuff, maybe make a theory, but during the trials, you go "Tell them Naegi" and don't do any work. You're just there, give a few snarky comments and see the mystery unfurl.

As a DR fan, I found The Silver Case pretty disappointing in that aspect. And while it has an interesting Twin Peaks vibe like mentioned above, I found it to be overall kind of a mess and the story/characters not that engaging. I like it enough to go through it, but it's not something I'd pay full price for.
