The best Total War in my opinion and the only one I've finished so far. It is easy to see why this is considered the most influencial of all Total War games published. The battles are fantastic to play, the game is challenging to play, if you play certain factions, and fun to see a faction that was wiped out by the Roman imperilaists in our history, to suddenly lick Carthaginian sandal in your game. Another good feature in this game is how each faction has their own unique apperances and even how they fight and what units they can have, even if they are a bit copy and paste.
If there are any flaws in this game, it is these; stupid stacked armies (several generals with up to 30 or more units), overpowered factions and historical inaccuracy. The stupid stacked armies are a constant menace, especially if you invade Rome, so be ready for that. Another one is overpowerded factions. The one in particullar is Egypt. If you play as the Seleucid Empire against them, good ♥♥♥♥ing luck! Historical inaccuracy is another flaw, but only minor compared to the latter two.
Overall, the game is fantastic and a good place to start if you're new to Total War and want to see how the Total War franchise became more famous!
