RTW encountered an unspecified error and will now exit
Rome Total War encountered an unspecified error and will now exit.

A friend of mine got this problem. This happened at first time start up. Google says it's a soundcard problem, and yeah, the soundcard is disabled.

Any suggestions?

I got the same problem. I made a minor tweak to unlock SPQR and Rebels (doesn't work, by the way), although I doubt this caused it. Does your friend have any mods of any kind?

I don't remember what fixed it, but suddenly it works. Might have googled it or so
