I can't launch puzzle quest 2
My wife and I really like this game, we have 65 hours logged since we got it in the last summer sale. I had to reinstall my OS(win xp) over the weekend and now it refuses to launch. XP is fully updated, and the game worked like magic before. Namco/bandai support for the game is almost nonexistent and I just need some help getting the game running again.

Do you have installed newest version of DirectX 9 and Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 runtime libraries? They are required to run the game, normally steam automatically gets all of this crap into your system but you can install them manually (setups are located in the game folder)

I'll try it, thanks!

Yeah, I'm all updated, I specifically redownloaded both those things and no change.

Also try deleting the game and reinstalling (In your Steam Library, right click on the game, click "delete local content", then reinstall --or-- uninstall through Windows' Control Panel then reinstall). It's a small chance, but sometimes reinstalls fix corrupted files and get things working again.

Also, could you post what happens when you try to open the game? Does the computer do anything? At what point does it break and how?

It doesn't do anything out of the ordinary. I just get a steam error window that says "Failed to launch (unknown error). I deleted it and reinstalled it twice now, I'm downloading it again right now. I'll post any results.

No, and I read something about it being a soundcard issue possibly so I went to update my ♥♥♥♥ty soundmax drivers and the new install deleted the previous version and failed to update the new version, so now I only have system sounds. FML I am bad at computers.
