Does it get scary/scarier?
Ima about half way through Condemned now, but other than the one creepy bit in level 5, I haven't found the game overly scary. It's fun; beating people up with a sledgehammer is always a good time. But I'm finding it suffers from the same fate as a lot of games where as long as you can fight back, it takes away the feeling of tension and fear.

Does the game get scary in the latter half or is it just more of the same?

It's not that scary compard to games now, it's more of a creepy feeling then scary. It's not a horror game, but I still enjoy it.

I find it scarier than some newer games because it stays away from the supernatural. The engrossing, chilling music with the crisp sound effects (glass breaking, footsteps, wind rustling, creeking floors, flapping windows/lockers, water drippin, etc.) with the slow paced gait of the main character make for a suspenseful and scary experience. The atmosphere is amazing, and I enjoyed that, for the most part, the game stays away of cheap scare tactics (monsters poppin in your face/screamin etc.). In other words, the realistic atmosphere and subject matter was a perfect blend for me. WAR MONOLITH AND SEGA!

The last mission at Apple Seed Orchard nearly made my friend and I have a heartattack. The last mission and the department store were really the only creepy levels to me.
