The Cultures successor?
I was really dreaming about game made to be like The Cultures series, one of my favourites ever. When I stumbled upon this game I got so excited. But my question is - how much this game really resemble the cultures? Can you (devs or people with some info about game's development process) answer this question? One of the things I really desire this game to have is advanced and complex buildings and professions systems. Can you evaluate how many buildings and professions will there be in Northgard? I can't wait to see more of your game, please work hard on it!

Personally I haven't played the Cultures series (although I'm now looking at the series on GoG) so anything I say here is based on what little I can see in videos on YouTube. Basically I think that Northgard will be similar in someways, but less orientated city building and more orientated overall strategy. There will be 15 or so professions with a level of upgrades and around 20 different buildings. So I don't know how that compares, but you definitely have to think about how you construct you settlement and about when to build or not to based on your resources and the time of year. The main thrust with Northgard will be about building based on the victory condition that you're going for (see the new post).

Let me know if this answers your question, and I'll come back once I've played some Cultures.

Yep this is a great answer, thank you! I'd love to see more variety in buildings and professions (the more the better), but what you described is fine and enough. Go ahead and play some Cultures, maybe it's not too late for you guys to get inspired in some ways by this game - although the series is really old and I guess the general strategy gameplay has changed in those years. Good luck in future development, I hope you can provide us with what people have high hopes for. Best wishes to you guys :)

The only reason Northgard caught my attention just now is because it immediately reminded me of Cultures. :)

I'm definitely interested, even if it does not turn out to be "100 % like Cultures". It probably shouldn't be anyway. Similar to Cultures is good enough for me.

As soon as I heard TB and co. mention Northgard (mistakenly they said Northland, which was the third installment in the Cultures series) it got my attention. How it's described here my interest is definitely piqued my interest and I'll probably be buying the game sometime soon because this sounds awesome :D Cultures is the game of my childhood and my go-to when I talk about my favourite game of all time.

Glad I'm not the only one.
Northland was great. Honestly thought this was a sequel/reboot
