Syberia

I can run the game windowed BUT....
....the window is 800x600 and the screen will render 800x600.

I have a 21:9 screen and I was able to run the game full screen with no problems and the correct aspect ratio (black bars on the side, no stretch).

I would like to run the game in a window, I have done the player.ini config file and the game now actually starts in a window but the problem is that the window is the whole screen, because the screen renders 800x600 just like if it were full screen.....so basically nothing changes from the fullscreen mode (I only see the window borders around the rendered game)

I would like to have the window (even in 1:1 pixel ratio, doesn't matter if I can resize it or not) so that I can move such window around the screen for instance while surfing the web and such. That is the main reason why I don't want to play in full screen. Let's say the window should just be smaller and work in desktop mode while my screen stays at its native resolution of 2580x1080.

Is it supposed to be like that? I was expecting a 1:1 window pixel ratio after writing that player.ini, not a 800x600 full screen window

First I want to check to make sure that you put in "800 600 16 0 BaseCMO.cmo" instead of "800 600 16 1 BaseCMO.cmo". If you used a 1 then it is still actually fullscreen mode. If that is not the case then your computer seems to be adjusting the resolution to fit the game and I assume you can just go into your screen resolution on your computer and adjust it back to 2580x1080.

i just tried that, I reduce game to task bar, change desktop resolution, but when i switch back to game it crashes (and the mouse cursor behaves in a weird way...like slowly slipping on the desktop until i force close syberia).

so no, it didn't work your idea :(

and yes, the player.ini is setup like that. the game boots in a window but the whole screen resolution is 800x600 and changing it from windows properties as i said makes the game crash.

I was also trying with DXwnd but it doesn't work!!! I followed the tutorial of that swedish guy, he just clicks 'run game' and it boots up in a window exactly how i would like.....but in my case, the game just doesn't boot up or boots up full screen (even using DXwnd)

Sorry about that. I'm out of ideas. Hope your figure it out or someone has a better idea. I did look around in the properties of the exe file, but I also couldn't find anything. I figured you wouldn't want to adjust the screen resolution ever time you wanted to play.

adjusting the resolution (desktop resolution) while the game is running makes the game crash anyway
