Started game. Mouse cursor won't move

Just bought this game. The title screen works ok, but when I start the game, right at the beginning, the mouse cursor just won't move it all. It just sits in the centre of the screen and flickers between arrows as I try to move the mouse around (allowing me to pan about), but that's all I can do! I can't move or anything. Any ideas?

I found when I first loaded the game I had problems with the cursor. When I changed some of my graphics settings (don't remember which ones) the cursor worked. ALSO, very important is to make sure you have the most up-to-date driver for your graphics card. I hope this helps!

I would try going to your advanced settings for your video card (catalyst/nvidia cp) and make sure all applicable settings use the application's preference. As great as Scratches is, as an older title it's bound to accumulate issues with new hardware/video controllers.

Thanks for the advice but neither of these suggestions have worked. I've ensured I have the latest graphics drivers, and ensure everything is set to "application preference" but neither worked. I even tried running the game under a lower screen resolution but to no effect. Any other suggestions?

This one has me stumped. First time I hear of such problem... Can you try the slideshow mode and see what happens?

Doesn't matter now anyway. For other reasons I decided to completely re-install my PC with 64-bit Windows (was previously running 32-bit). And despite not changing any hardware, the game now runs! Hooray! (I guess just having a clean machine, and with 64-bit drivers just happened to fix it).

In case anybody else has this issue all you have to do is play with the settings the bottom two to make it work how you would like it to.
