In my mind this is the best expansion in the Warhammer 40,000 Dawn of War franchise. Dawn of War vanilla was good, yes, but its only drawback was the short single player campaign.
Dark Crusade's single player campaign is designed like a Risk map, where you get a province on a planet and have to wrest control of the planet from the other 6 races (Space Marines, Chaos, Orks, Eldar, Imperial Guard, Tau and Necrons). In each province you have to buiold a base and then destroy the other faction's base. The more provinces you take, the more perks you get for your army (production bonuses, armor for your commander, veteran squads to boost your amry, etc.). It lacks a bit in story, but taking a enemy fortress allows for some narrative.
Again, it is in the multiplayer or skirmish games where this game shines (don't take my word for it based on the amount of hours I played - I already bought the Dawn of War box set and played the crap out of it - for the Emperor!)
