Hello fellow fighters and fans!
As far as I know, many players really like the game's music/soundtrack. Many of you even want to listen to it. BUT, it is unavailable by default, because every BGM in the game is in SF4 engine's sound extension, CSB (.csb), which is unsupported by every media player available. It's Capcom's very own extension, it cannot be played with any player. As I told you: it is unavailable BY DEFAULT. What does that mean? That means if you just want to extract the BGM from the game's files, you'll be unable to do so. However, a very smart and clever hacker (named Goshanes) was able to solve the coding of these files, and was able to create a little program, which can be used to extract WAV files from CSB files, therefore they can be converted into MP3 files, which you can play anywhere.
This little program created by Goshanes:http://www.mediafire.com/download/vf0w1083r6ctmcn/SFIVAM_11-07-09.zip
I used that to extract WAV files from CSBs.
There are 3 folders in the game's files, containing BGM:
A folder containing the theme songs of SSF4's characters and stages:
Steam/SteamApps/common/Super Street Fighter IV - Arcade Edition/resource/battle/sound/bgm
A folder containing the music of menus (main menu, character select, etc.):
Steam/SteamApps/common/Super Street Fighter IV - Arcade Edition/resource/ui/sound/bgm
And a folder containing the theme songs of the characters from AE update (Yun, Yang, Evil Ryu, Oni):
Steam/SteamApps/common/Super Street Fighter IV - Arcade Edition/dlc/03_character_free/battle/sound/bgm
After I extracted WAV files from CSB files, I saw: we get 2 WAVs from each CSB file.
We get a 10-30 seconds long WAV file, a kinda like 'starting part', and we get a 1-2 minutes long WAV file, a kinda like 'looping part'.
And now I saw:
When we actually play the game, and a BGM starts to play, we hear that: Starting part, looping part, looping part, looping part...etc.
The first WAV we get, gets played once the song itself started, and then the second WAV file goes to infinite loop until the match ends.
If we have like a 10 minutes long match, the game will play: Starting part, then keeps repeating/looping the 1-2 minutes long WAV until the match ends.
EVERY BGM in the game has the same build. (starting part and a looping part which gets repeated until the match is over)
I created MP3 tracks for each BGM. Every MP3 have this build: Starting part + looping part + looping part + looping part
This way I got 3-5 minutes long tracks, where the looping part gets repeated 3 times.
I extracted WAV files directly from the game's files (CSBs), then I converted the WAVs directly into MP3s (320kbps CBR, Stereo) for highest quality possible.
In this case you'll get the highest quality soundtrack of the game.
WARNING! THE ALBUM CONTAINS EVERY BGM IN THE GAME, EXCLUDING MENU MUSIC!
