Is this the end for GFWL?
So the Games for Windows Live Marketplace is shutting down for good, you think the platform is going to be next? Would that mean the end for SSFIV multiplayer on PC?

Servers of GFWL will shutdown at July 1st of 2014, and the online compatibilities of these games will no longer be available:

No longer be available?
What you mean?
People will DEMAND a refund if this occur...

The new SF (named Ultra Street Fighter 4) will work on Steamworks. USF4 will pick up where SSFIV will be dropped. Competitive play on PC won't bleed out.

It's still a shame that this game will just die - makes it all the more important that the Super -> Ultra upgrade is available on PC

Happens all the time....go look at EA's history of shutting down online servers.
They can and will shut down all online games for GFWL and they don't owe you a bloody dime for any of them.
That's the way the gaming industry works these days. You rolls your dice, and you takes your chances.

depends on whether or not your games get patched to work without GFWL.

btw. July 1, 2014 will be one of the greatest days for gamers. we should turn that day into a world wide holidyay.

As for Ultra SFIV, having Steamworks fully integrated will be a major milestone for the PC community, I sure as hell am not sad that GFWL is taking its last breath, though the transition might be somewhat awkward.

So the Ultra version will gonna be full price and my old version of AE will be shutting down?
And what about my other games like Dirt, Resident evil 5, SFXT?
I will lost all of them?
It's hard to believe...

Just so y'all know - you'll keep the games, they will just lose their ONLINE features.

USFIV is not full price for people who own AE. every gfwl will need an update and my guess is that it all will depend on whether or not the company of each game gives you the update. I guess we'll see some games transition over to steamworks while others won't.

Some games without the online feature is the same as nothing at all...

Won't the steam server support the muliplay instead?

Some of these games use online activation methods and will flat out not work.

No.

Steamworks integration requires patching from the developers, who need the permission/funding of the publisher, and the publishers will most likely not want to spend money on older games that are not selling much anymore.

In short, Microsoft is giving us the finger.

I will sue microsoft if that happen...
Differents laws for different countries, microsoft will not just get away with that...
