Please Help Me
I am having the dreaded ps3 fightstick problems.
If I plug the thing in it is detected as PC USB Wired Stick 8838, but when I go to Game Control Settings, none of the buttons work.
I have tried a few different things to work around this.
1. I've read on forums that the stick is only compatible on Intel Chipsets. I have one of those.
2. USB 3.0 Seems to be the way to go. I have tried that.
3. Motionenjoy, Xpadder, etc. Tried that.
4. I've looked at the slider at the top of the stick LS, DP, RS. None of that seems to work.

My problem gets weird here.
I've tried on and off every once in a while, but nothing seemed to work. I read on a SRK forum that if you download the newest drivers for the dualshock 3 through motion enjoy, and then plug your stick in, it will work.

I tried it, and it did work. Motionenjoy did not detect the stick, but in Game Controller settings, the buttons and stick started working immediatly. I was able to play for a couple of hours.

I went to play again today, and my stick wasn't working again =(

I tried doing what I had done yesterday, and no luck. If anyone has any ideas, please help.

Sounds to me like you need to buy a via chipset with the usb ports. Before that though, try alt tabbing out of game and back in.

Will do. Thanks for the help. Any idea why it worked for a day, and is acting up now?

Hey, i may have missed the last part of the post as i was working. I have not used motion joy for an age, but i remember having to save my motion joy settings as an xbox profile and make sure it was saved correctly. At times i had to unplug the device and plug it in again and it would work.

I currently have a via chipset ,as i mentioned before, and my stick works fine. For SSF4 however, i have to alt-tab out of game and back in before my stick is active everytime, hence my suggestion to do that.

Hey, thanks again. I tried your suggestion, but was still unable to get it to work. The issue I am having seems to be more on the windows side than with AE though. For some reason the Game Control Settings don't seem to detect any button presses or stick motions. They did once, after plugging it in after Motionenjoy was used, but I haven't been able to get it to work since.

It is kind of annoying, but it isn't the end of the world. This might be annoying, but if you could give me step by step instructions on how you think it might work, that would be awesome, because as it stands, I can't get Motionenjoy to even register the fact that I have the stick plugged in.

Thank you again for your help so far.

Hi there!

I was having the same problem as you describe with my ps3 madcatz stick (detected but no response to inputs). What fixed it for me was plugging it into one of the usb ports in the back of the computer instead of the front ones. I have no idea why this works, but it did for me so might be worth trying at least?

I do have the motioninjoy driver installed (for my regular ps3 controller), but my stick doesn't even show up there so i don't think that has anything to do with it.

does your stick work on a ps3? maybe you should try that out first to be 100% sure that the stick isn't broken.

Sometimes the ports in the front are not powered, or they plug into a different part of the motherboard that needs a different/updated driver. Plugging it into the back USB ports is usually the more safe way of testing if you have a hardware or software problem.

I am 100% sure that my stick works haha. I have tried the back ports before, but it didn't seem to work. I will try again to be certain. Thank you!
