I wouldn't be so sure about it. Looks like Ultra is not going to use GfWL anymore. That makes Ultra upgrade for Super practically impossible. It would be possible to give discount to owners of Super but it very probably isn't going to be sold as an upgrade for Super on PC.

It was confirmed when they announced that it would upgrade on steam

I see them doing things like this. Before or when the game comes out there is a mandory update that removes all GWFL stuff. In the update achivements and stuff would be added for people on Steam who upgrade to Ultra.

Hopefully it's not months after console.

Hope it doesnt do more harm than good.. i.e if people who upgrade can no longer be matched against non-upgraders.

Anyone have a link to confirmation video or something?

Hopefully everyone would at least get an update to not use GFWL. At the same time the upgrade is only 15$ and who would still want to use GWFL.

I hate GFWL so much, I think I would be willing to pay steam 15$ just to get it off my sf4 right now. I'm sure most windows 8 users would at least somewhat agree with me.

Don't comment like this if you have no experience with what your talking about, changing the coding for the networking for multiplayer is realistically doable, the only reason to release a standalone game is when it'd be easier (time wise) or when the game is going to use a new engine and a few other reasons.

Still i don't like it when people spread false info based upon assumptions, no hatred here, more of a pet peeve xD

Whatever you say, sir. But i very doubt that Microsoft will cooperate with Steam to transfer all your data from GfWL to Steam and then remove Super from your GfWL account. A lot of things are doable but they often require cooperation of two or more companies and it's not so easy in this ridiculously competitive bussiness.

We were talking about how possible it is, it is easilly done technically, a good coder could do it in a matter of weeks, a not so good one in a few months. As for wether microsoft would want to, yes they would. They are trying to get rid of gfwl and if you payed attention to the current happenings you'd know that this isn't the first game to migrate from gfwl to steamworks. Also notice the steamworks logo in the trailer for ultra? microsoft has lost most, nearly all of publisher interest. hell arkham asylum and bioshock 2 now have steam achievements.

Its almost like how they got rid of windows live messenger by "merging" it with skype. hell they are trying to get rid of the "live" brand in general.

And who gives a damn about the data, the upgrade could bring a new slate to stats, or microsoft could just give the information from the servers. Its not as hard as you assume it is.

i don't want to sound like i'm hating on you or anything but please stop xD

I am sure they could patch in a screen giving you the option to play SSFAE or USSF4 on boot or select the game from the steam menu or if you play online again a non upgrader you can only use SSFAE characters. If not then it would split the community via dlc like what happens to too many games.

Basically how it is on consoles if you have the Super Street Fighter 4 disc. I doubt many people would be playing AE once Ultra comes out.
