There is no GFWL "deadline". Microsoft has never announced they're cancelling the service, only that they would take GFWL MARKETPLACE offline, which happened months ago.

so like can I not do online co-op or can I?

Part of the issue with games like LP2 is that your save files are tied to your GFW login, so if the service is taken down, you can't access your saves.

Yes, and with that take down the servers because they are shutting it down. Anything that relies on the servers are gonna mainly be non-functional.

You can still play, you won't be able to play multiplayer like you normally would as it uses GFWL for matchmaking, you can do LAN hosting still for multi, but you won't be able to save/access previous saves after it goes down, because the saves are tied to your GFWL account, and if you can't hit up GFWL to confirm which account is accessing the game, it can't handle saves for that session. So what it means is no saving the game and having a fresh start every time you play.

But they did. They said they'd be taking the marketplace offline first, then a year later taking down the rest of the service. There was a since-deleted announcement posted on the AoE Online page.

Many publishers are already switching services. It's obviously going down.

offline saves works fine and the game progress will be saved even after GFWL shutdown

There are no offline profiles in LP2 last I checked. Which was not too long ago. While the game stores your data locally, it doesn't actually let you access that data without a GFWL login first.

EDIT: I'm wrong on both counts about this apparently. You can access LP2 with an offline profile, and it's somehow possible to login to your online profile when not connected to the internet.
