Actually hack n' slash can be a category of RPG, but the stylish action hack n' slash... well, there's Garshasp and Blades of Time (horrible games trough).

Honestly the main reason i keep a console are for the action beat em ups. I love baoynetta and Ninja gaiden 3 razor.

Look into Dark siders and batman though. niether one though is totally hack and slash though, it's a bit more Platformish with maybe 30% action :)

The Arkham games are good brawlers. Sleeping Dogs is a great open-world GTA-styled brawler. Darksiders 1 & 2 as well as the Legacy of Kain series are very similar to DMC. Overall, though, there's not a whole lot of these kinds of beat 'em up types of games on the PC.

The original Diablo by Blizzard Entertainment (released 1996) is known for being one of the first of the hack n' slash genre. Diablo II, released 4 years later, is the game that brought the heaviest amount of attention to the genre, and has more or less shaped the hack n' slash genre. Since then, quite a few hack n' slash games have been released by publishers besides Blizzard, including Titan Quest (2006), Torchlight (2009) and Torchlight II (2012), and Path of Exile (Upcoming 2013). Almost all of these games are on Steam, and are quite good. I recommend playing at least a few of them if you are interested in the genre, or if you liked Diablo/Diablo II to some extent.

You're describing games of the hack and slash RPG variety, when OP is wanting more beat-em-up action games ala Devil May Cry, which has little relation to the games you listed.

Devil May Cry has nothing to do with beat em up games. If you wanted to play a beat em up I'd suggest the Double Dragon and Final Fight series.

Titan Quest, of course.

I didn't mean the actual "beat em up" genre, you're just nitpicking.

And take a look at this[en.wikipedia.org] before you try acting like you know what the hell you're talking about.

You say that as if you think that Wikipedia knows anything when it comes to video games.
They don't.

Do you really think that a group of people that list Diablo, Demon's Souls, and Nier under the same genre have any credibility on this subject?

You're attempting to discredit one Wiki page by pointing at another, when they're not all done by the same person. That aside, regardless of whether or not Wikipedia knows what it's talking about, you were nitpicking my wording. I refuse to believe you're so dense you didn't know what I meant. Hell, I'm curious whether you misunderstood the OP, or were just posting all those hack 'n slash games to be facetious. You seem smart enough to have understood what antony actually wanted. Why would someone post on the Devil May Cry forum asking for hack and slash RPGs like Diablo? There are no similarities between the two.

A little common sense goes a long way.
