crash on DX10 and latest windows update KB2670838

Just a quick note hoping this helps others.
My game started crashing every time I run it, almost when it starts running.
I noticed it started happening after the latest windows automatic update.
So I removed that update, and it works fine now.

I'm too tired to test it or anything, but if this happens to others I hope this is a clue...

I had the same problem too. Removed update & worked fine for me. My Dirt 2 was also crashing. I have not checked that yet. Resident Evil 5 crashes DX 10 before removal, don't know about now.

Crash problem with the update has also effected Resident Evil 5 too. My Dirt 2 game crashed hard too. CPU over valoted at restert. Had to default BIOS. Think that may also relate to update. Have not tried the game yet.

You will need to reupdate for IE10. I got a update for IE 10 after removing KB2670838. The IE 10 update seems to have reapplyed user settings to IE 10. I don't know if it was a reinstall, or a update after removal of talked about update.

Both Devil May Cry 4, & Resident Evil 5 games work fine now. Will check again after yet another restart.

If you deinstall KB2670838 also Internet Explorer 10 is deinstalled. DMC4 then works in normal mode and also with DX10.

Then i install IE 10 without the optional KB2670838. Again DMC4 dont start with DX10, also in normal Mode I have only three screen resolution I can choose. Max. 1440x .... but my LED use 1920x1080.

When I look in the windows-update-log, I can see IE10 also has install again KB2670838 without asking me :-(

Now the question is, DMC4 or IE10? Both isnt working yet...

Hey guys, thanks for the info. Was quite frustrated this morning when I fired this game up and it crashed out two or 3 times during opening scenes etc. Removed the windows update as mentioned at it's running perfect on highest settings.

I do not have KB2670838 installed on my PC and I am having issues running the game at all.

SPEC:
i5 4470k
32 Gb DDR3 2400 Mhz RAM
4Gb EVGA GTX 690
WIndows 7 64bit Ultimate

What could be the problem? and does DX10 Look any better?

Got the same issue here. I uninstalled that KB.... upgrade and my IE is version 8, but the game still crashes.
