DMC 4 problem

So I am running DMC 4 on windows 7, the non Direct X10 version just minimizes as soon as I open it and whenever I click on it in the taskbar it minimizes again, and the Direct X10 Version plays the opening cinimatic, then comes to the screen that says press any button and pressing buttons on my keyboard or xbox 360 controller does not do anyting. Also if I click my mouse it minimizes the game. Can anyone help?

I can only get to the capcom logo and the game crashes. when i run the direct x 9 version the game will eventually flash old frames over the current gameplay. capcom games are just broken for the PC

I'm also getting this problem.

I managed to fix it for a while by setting my graphics settings in the options, then exiting the game, booting back up and then It let me play no problem up until the first Fire boss.

I killed the fire boss, cutscene came on, then crash with debug error.

Wtf.

Guys, I think i've just fixed the problem. (Win7 Machine)

Go to: C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\CAPCOM\DEVILMAYCRY4

Paste that into the search box in start menu and press enter ^^

Then, open the config file in wordpad and change SLI to OFF and also turn VSync ON.

This should make it play in DirectX10 mode without any problems. I've just tested it and it's working so far (fingers crossed)

I think the frame rate was running too high and causing the game to crash, cause when I did a benchmark on max detail, my computer was running the game over 400fps. Also, DX10 looks much better than 9, this is why I tried so hard to fix it.

EDIT: While it has calmed down, it is still crashing at random points of the game. I'm done with wrestling this and giving up on the game.

Final EDIT: Looks like someone finally found the root cause of all this. Uninstall windows update KB2670838 and it will work flawlessly. I just did this and can confirm it is correct. Wooooo! Thanks to the guy in the other thread on this forum.
