Launch in window mode? (Crash on Launch)
Seems that Clickr crashes on startup for non-standard resolutions.

Anyone know a way to force it to:

1) Launch in window mode? (First time launch, not through in-game options)
2) Set the launch resolution outside of the game? (e.g. in a cfg file)

As an aside, if after launching the game there's a *.cfg file that's created, knowing what that is and the contents would also work to solve this issue! Thanks for checking!

When you start the game, game configs are written in \steamapps\common\Clickr\Data\PlayData
The file ClickrConfig.xml contains the value of fullscreen mode but you can't change it from there.

I'm sure you'll need to modify ClickrConfig.pak in the main folder. It will be those .xml files that get unpacked in Data\PlayData. So just need to find out how they pack it. Then you can unpack, modify and pack it up again.

I have 2560x1600 resolution and game started fine. But it messes up other programs on my other screens if I play it fullscreen so I have to play it windowed. But windowed res is only a pathetic 1000x800.
It's very annoying all these developers on their stupid little macbooks not thinking outside their box.

Does the game support 1360x768 resolution?

Stelly,

Thanks for that! It was exactly what I was looking for. I game on a 4320x2560 (don't ask), so this issue crops up everytime a dev expects users to only be on standard 1080p type resolutions.

Unfortunately, as you pointed out, the file with the options overwrites itself anytime you attempt to change it, but I was able to use that information to fashion a crude solution:

1) You have to install Clickr on a machine that works (e.g. a laptop or Surface Pro in my case)
2) Start the game, wait until the intro goes away, exit the game (or else you may crash)
3) Restart the game, go to the options, click off full screen, exit the game
4) COPY THE ENTIRE CLICKR FOLDER
5) Delete your old Clickr folder on the machine you want to play on in windows mode and replace with the copied one

Annnndddd it now starts in window mode. Hooray.

While I'm sure there's a more elegant solution, this works.

That's very crude indeed :D

If you're more curious than I am, here is a list of all strings attached to Clickr. http://pastebin.com/QeT06AR7
If there are startup commands, they should be in that list. I quickly went over all the strings starting with W but didn't see anything related to a window parameter.

Yeah, before I even made the post, I tried adding -w and -window to the launch options with no luck. Since I've gotten the game to work now, my curiosity has been slaked...

But if you ever visit this thread again, I would be very curious as to what program/utility you used to extract the readable strings from the EXE file. I was just using Windows Grep to search earlier. ^^

If I have nothing to go on, I use ProcesExplorer (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896653.aspx). Go into the properties of a running process and then go to the strings tab.
It's unreliable tho. Programs can hide those strings but looking at Clickr I assume they don't know.

If you know some command line parameters and are curious for more it's a better option to search with a disassembler. Look for a known parameter and high chance other parameters are near it.
