Gem Hunt feedback
I'm back! With a pile of suggestions for Gem Hunt.
First of all, I really want to like this mode - I like the idea of it, it's fun to fly around in the beautiful canyon, etc. But right now it is kind of frustrating:
--There is IMO a mismatch between the flight mechanic and the game mechanic. To climb, I have to pedal faster, which is (a) laggy, and (b) has no visual feedback, so I am constantly trying to get aligned with the strings of gem targets, missing one, not getting the string bonus and getting frustrated. What I think this game SHOULD be is a low-precision scavenger hunt which rewards me for bombing around the map at the highest possible speed, but is pretty forgiving in the gem collection mechanic. Instead, it's a high-precision flight game with a low-precision flight mechanic, which makes it frustrating to play and incidently doesn't give me much of a workout compared to other modes. For me, it's not fun to have to line up precisely on gem strings which are somewhat arbitrarily arranged in space - I am unable to link them together in a satisfying way - mostly I am doubling back, getting my angle wrong and having to try again, etc. There are a couple ways you could fix it:
1. Keep the high-precision gem-retrieval mechanic, but change the navigation to be fully gaze-driven, like Eagle Flight, so it is easy and intuitive to hit the linear target strings.
2. (my preferred solution) scrap the linear target strings and just have one or two targets in a given area that you need to collect. It would be a lot more fun IMO if there were just two or three targets spaced out, with a bigger collision volume, so you could just swoop in, get the first one, bank around, get the second one, and then be setting up the next target off in the distance.

This mode should be about tactically choosing the next target on the map and pedalling your♥♥♥♥♥off to get to it, and having a sense of mastery and freedom as you do so. Right now I find it fussy and frustrating.

Two final comments:
1. Having the strings respawn removes my incentive to explore the map - it feels exploit-ey. Better to have them not re-spawn, but always make sure you can see the next set of gems from any given set, so you are incented to work your way across the map.
2.The speed boost you get for completing a string is super short - like two seconds - it feels stingy. Suggest you double it!

Thanks for listening!
