Why did NWI add pistols to Rifleman?

I'm not very happy about this change to say the least.. It's called rifleman for a reason, not pistolman. Please reply and tell me what you think of this new change. I, and many of my friends, picked this class solely because it emphasized the use of bolt action rifles. Now with M1911 and other auto pistols in the class, I don't see the point of the class anymore.

Every class has pistols, why shouldn't the riflemen too? It's not like the pistols are better than their primary weapons

Do know that in wartime, with the exception of the US Armed Forces, sidearms are only given to officers and machine gunners.

So you either should complain about all the other classes getting cheap pistols, or complain about why the rifleman gets the most expensive pistols.

The sorts of people who did have a pistol even without being an officer / machine gunner usually either captured or bought their own handguns. It wasn't particularily common but it was allowed for your average dude to have a pistol on an ad-hoc basis.

so how do i get good with bolt action for the achievement
i can't even efficiently farm headshots with them

I like taking a sidearm for Germany and US because I like riflegrenades for Germany and for the low ammo capacity of both the Kar98 and Springfield. (If I'm using the Garand it's all situational.) As the CW I usually grab grenades because the Lee Enfield is great on its own.

I carry a radio mostly and ditch the pistol. whole point of rifleman is the extended stamina. it allows you to carry radio and rifle without being exhausted too much.
