Difference between game and expansion
I bought the package with the two Silverfall and installed. But I can not see the difference between them. It seems that the two games are the same. Someone could explain it better?

EA is an expansion. It adds 2 races, and increases the content. With EA, you have the option of starting a new game at the start of the EA content (at a higer level)or starting with the base story at level 1.

So I don't need to have installed the vanilla game? I can play the full game just with EA?

Ok, that's how I did to have both Silverfall and Earth Awakening perfectly work :

  • I first installed Silverfall. I launched the setup to define my settings, and played a few minutes with a new character.

  • I then installed Earth Awakening. There is indeed a problem, since the download is only less than 250 MB, and when I launched it, it was Silverfall, no Earth Awakening.

  • Now here's the trick : from the Library section, right-click on Earth Awakening and select Properties from the menu. Then select the Local files tab and click the "Verify integrity of game cache..." button.

  • After the verification process Steam will magically download all the missing files.

  • Launch Earth Awakening and enjoy! You will be able to play either the Silverfall campaign (but with EA enhancements) or play directly the EA campaign.

You can run both of them seperate, but if you want to play both parts of the campaign, you have to install both. It's weird.

For the full and "best" experience, make sure you install them in order. EA will overwrite files in the original folder, and you'll have both versions mixed into one package, able to play both campaigns all the way through with the vanilla campaign being altered with rebalancing and bug fixes, more races and just more stuff in general.

If you install them backwards, then you'll only have the vanilla version, and the EA version will not be present. You can install both games in seperate folders (you'll have to do this manually) and play them seperately, but you will lack the extra content and patching from the expansion when playing the original.

Don’t forget that the UI and controls have been completely re vamped too. 10 times better than the originals was.

Thank you for the cross-post of Elgar's instructions, Rurori. That did the trick!

I think installing the expansion also copies over files that it needs from the original install...I deleted the first install to save on HD space and everything (so far) still works.

No, it's an expansion with new content and enhancements, but it allows you to play also the original campaign with these enhancements.
