F1 2011 dont work on Windows 8
Since I swithed - as a professional expert - my OS from Windows 7 to Windows 8, F1 2011 refuse tot start. The reason is the game would not comnnect to Wndows Life Game. ll discussions over Windows 8 on the web are the same: Steam wil not change his platform in sort time. This means, dont change your OS and dont buy F1 2012 before Valve has makes his platform ready. Besides that, my opinion is that it is a shame Steam and Origin dont service the curent clients properly.

It works for me on Windows 8 Consumer Preview, however, only on the older GFWL client. 3.50.5.0 or something like that. You should give it a try.

Have you found a solution?

Its GFWL thats the issue as said above.
uninstall the GFWL that you have already... from control panel
download the client from http://www.xbox.com/en-US/LIVE/PC/DownloadClient
find it using file explorer, right click on it and select properties, and then Compatibility
Select windows 7
then accept
start the client by right clicking and select run as administrator
it should down load and install GFWL and be about 30mb, if its more then you have gone wrong somewhere.
You can then start F1 2011 as normal in steam
This worked for me :D

Hey guys, look the answer that codmaster give to me:

Reply from Codemasters ref:02446680

Thank you for submitting your recent request to Codemasters Customer Services concerning F1 2011.

This version of the game does not officially support Windows 8, so we are limited in the support we can provide unfortunately. However as long as all your hardware has Windows 8 compatible drivers, and meets or exceeeds the minimum requirements of the game, you should be able to get it to run.

We have no plans for a Windows 8 patch, at the current time I'm afraid.

Kind regards
Rob

I bought Win8 last week, installed Steam, and the game running fine as on Win7 or Win8 preview. There was an internal update in Live Client, and it seems solve the problem.

I dont know what happen, but alle Steam apps run fine since one week. Steam has updatde the client software recently and now my problems are solved. Now F1 2012 works fine but im sure this solution works not in alle cases with Windows8.

try this

"go to control panel- administrative tools- services- "windows live ID sign-in assistant" if it's not running start it. (not sure on windows 8 but thats how to get there on 7/vista)"

It works for me on windows 8.1 and no need for compatibility mode either. I did have to clean install GFWL though.

I uninstalled the GFWL from the control panel, and followed the steps you describe. When I run the new gfwl it says there is a connection error - although internet works fine. Perhaps it is useful to note that I got this same error when I re-installed gfwl through the link you provided.

How can I fix this?
Thanks
