Questions: single-player and saves
Hi,

Does this game have a "normal" local single-player mode where you don't connect to a server?

How does the SP save system work? Save-anywhere with multiple save slots?

Yes, playing locally lets you control quite a bit, including setting the game to "Normal" mode.
-First, start you local game creating your character and entering the world.
-Then, press "ESC" and select "View Rulesets." This opens the "Configure Options" interface.
-You will be presented with a number of sliders that adjust not only the difficulty, but the yield of resources, aggressiveness of creatures.

See a button labeled "Manual Configuration" at the bottom right of the "Configure Options" interface. Manual Configs lets can specify exactly what will happen to both your inventory and skill levels on death, along with other settings.

I've always played online servers and hadn't seen this before looking it up for you. Now I'd like to try playing offline too and set the experience multiplier to .25 and make it a longer, more difficult challenge. Thanks! =)

As a survival game, there does not appear to be multiple saves or an undo. Looks like you've got to live ( or not) with your choices.

Thanks for the reply. As a game, it has to allow me to play, try and test stuff. I choose the "(or not)" option then ;), until maybe the devs implement a proper manual save-anywhere system.
Hey neofit - you could put all settings to Casual. This would mean you lose absolutely nothing in either inventory or experience...you'd be learning from mistakes and keep all you've got.

Manual - https://sites.google.com/a/therepopulation.com/fragmented-game/

...edit...Ha sorry, saw the word "Manual" and thought you'd like a link to the Manual... =)

As a matter of fact, on casual servers, one way to get around fast that is widely used is to do "/suicide" and then respawn near where you want to be. This setting would be best for starting and is the way many of us played for months. I still do to occasionally.

Игра заброшена? Почему нет обновлений?

Thanks. It's not so much about losing anything as much as wasting valuable time. This is not how a single-player game should operate, we shouldn't have to jump through hoops to try and emulate a simple feature that was there since the dawn of gaming - saving and loading. Never mind, I have 120+ games in my wishlist, I can afford to wait and/or play something else.
Neofit -- I see that this is your personal view. I suppose mine is different in that in a casual server getting killed is like losing a hand at poker. On a casual server, you play with 'plastic chips' and not "money." Since you don't lose anything, you're not set back at all, I'll admit I don't understand the "wasting time" point, but I don't have to. Good luck with some other game and hope you have as much fun with it as I have had for the past year with Fragmented.

Of course it is my personal view, wheat else can it be? And yep, totally having fun elsewhere not wasting my time replaying the same stuff or going back to where I died because someone can't be bothered to save the game state as it was already done back in the Doom 1 days.
