Pre-order or not?
So, i was just thinking, should i preorder this awesome thing or should i wait for the final product? And will i get the promo item if i buy it later?
And also, will the preordered product look the same as the finished product?

If you are thinking of buying it just for the promo then don't and just wait for the consumer version.

The promo is only available to 1 April and after that it will disappear but there may be another promo later on for the consumer version but only time will tell.
The dev kit will not be as polished as the consumer version later on.

If you think a hat is worth $300.

I would want to wait for the consumer version. Which will have a lot better resolution then the dev kit, which is used for testing purposes.

While I don't think TF2 is the best game for Virtual Reality. I am glad to see them support this. I would definitely get this for a simulation or driving game where you are in some type of cockpit.

Q: I’m not a developer. Should I buy a developer kit now or wait for the consumer version?

A: If you are asking this question, the answer is most likely “Wait”.

The consumer product will improve on almost every aspect of the developer kit, which is essentially an early prototype of the consumer version. This includes comfort, immersion, features, software support, etc… for the absolute best virtual reality experience possible.

If you absolutely must have one, please understand that the developer kits are more or less early prototypes of the consumer version and with very limited software/game support when they ship.

So if you’re not a developer or hardcore enthusiast, sit tight for now. We promise the consumer Rift will be worth the wait!
