VR not working as expected on linux
i can get TF2 to detect my rift and i can activate it but the 2 sides overlap in the goggles

i have it setup correctly and tried matching the main screens resolution to 1280x800 aswell as other things but still had the issue. looking at the console it looks like its dropping it to 640x480 instead of 1280x800

maxplayers set to 24

The "changing resolution" message is a red herring. It's about the UI changing resolution, not the game itself.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean by "the two sides overlap". Can you post a screenshot of what it's rendering? Just hit F12 in the game and that will save a file with one eye, which would tell me a lot.

Could you also post a screenshot of your Displays control panel so I can understand what your current configuration is?

the openVR demo(in tools) + the main occulus demos work fine

When VR mode is enabled, do you see the game full screen on your Samsung monitor? If that is the case I think you need to make the Samsung the primary monitor. Because when I had the rift as my primary monitor(with similar settings), it would render on the non-rift monitor when I pressed activate. Therefore the rift would only show a part of the full screen. Changing the primary monitor made it render completely on the rift.

i do have the rift as primary as the instructions for the rift said to do and yes the samsung monitor is fullscreen. its late here so ill try that tomorrow and report back

thanks for the suggestion

EDIT tried switching primary monitors no difference the samsung monitor is still fullscreen and the rift is the same as before.

Thanks to your screenshots I managed to reproduce this and have a fix. It will go out in a TF2 update sometime in the next week.

Until then, you should be able to work around the problem by setting the Rift to have an origin other than 0,0. It doesn't really matter what as long as it isn't the same as your primary monitor.
Slacker[Linux] - IPX 31 Paź, 2013 - 16:42
awesome news just repacked the rift away(not enough linux demos to keep it plugged in) :( so ill try that another time

looking forward to playing TF2 with my rift but for now got a few more games to play

EDIT: tried changing the origin it now shows 2 full menu's next to eachother progress but still not correct ill play around and see if i can get them to join up

i also noticed you can disable VR mode while still having VR enabled and if you dont have the rift plugged in when you start TF2 it still has VR enabled(so no fullscreen is possible)

EDIT2: got it working had to drag it fully out totally awesome although i wish i could read the text... maybe with the HD rift :)

EDIT3: just played a few hours straight feels fine while having it on you guys really did a great job adding RiFT support and TY for heling me out with my issues Joe and Solo cant wait for this to make it into the SDK and HL2(for linux ofcourse)

now i gotta walk off this RiFT hangover :)
