Item/Trading Prices In A New, Different Format.
As of now, items in trade are almost always priced in units of Refined Metal, such as 1.33 ref or 0.55 ref. Since a single Refined Metal unit is made up of 3 Reclaimed Metal units, and each Reclaimed Metal unit is made up of 3 Scrap Metal units, a Reclaimed Metal unit is priced at (1/3) = 0.33 ref while a Scrap Metal unit is priced at ((1/3)/3) = (1/9) = 0.11 ref. Also, because a Scrap Metal unit is made up of 2 Weapons, each Weapon is priced at ((1/9)/2) = (1/18) = 0.055 ref (No, not 0.11 ref. That's just an additional cost given by the seller to make the smallest profit possible and due to the fact that he is selling a Specific weapon to the buyer.)

Because it's in Base-9, the math between different and multiple item prices may be confusing, and could lead to mistakes in total values. For example, when adding 0.88 and 0.44, one might be thinking "0.88, 0.99, 1, 1.11, 1.22" and say it is 1.22 when it is actually 1.33 (I just saw it on a server. They were adding 2.88 and 1.44 and thought it was 4.22. It was really 4.33.) This surprising mistake could be mainly attributed to the fact that we want to think with Decimals, the numeral system we were taught, and avoid ever believing that 9 + 1 = 11.

That is why I am proposing a new way of pricing items, the way we should have always done it: (Refined,Reclaimed,Scrap) > (0ref,0rec,0s) > (0,0,0).

This system works similar to trinary code. It takes the count of each item and lists them in a 3-digit ordered pair, with Refined Metal coming first, Reclaimed Metal second, and Scrap Metal third. A Refined Metal in this format would be (1,0,0), a Reclaimed Metal would be (0,1,0), and a Scrap Metal would be (0,0,1). A Refined Metal has many different ways it can also be shown, ((0,3,0), (0,0,9), (0,2,3), (0,1,6)), similar to the way we count coins, like how a dollar can be 4 quarters, 10 dimes, 20 nickels...

...or 100 pennies.

The counting method from a Scrap to a Refined is:
(0,0,0) (0,0,1) (0,0,2) (0,1,0) (0,1,1) (0,1,2) (0,2,0) (0,2,1) (0,2,2) (1,0,0).
The price of a key, for example, converted to this would be:
2.88
2 ref > (2,0,0)
2 rec > (2,2,0)
2 scrap > (2,2,2)
2.88 > (2,2,2)

The problem is not so much the math as the belief that any item has any intrinsic value the reality is only perceived value and if you allow yourself to be dictated in what this value is then then you are going to loose out on a trade.

From what I have been reading some of the websites who list item prices have been fixing the prices to benefit themselves. So the next time you trade remember to ask yourself if YOU think the deal is fair, if there is any doubt then dont trade

You can value like you suit best, no contradictions of course but that still would not change how people see and calculate their own price.

Good theory though, may think more on this in the future

i think it'll be enough to convert any non-refined reminder to scraps directly, and add them like that. then 2,88 + 1,44 would be 2 ref + 8 scraps + 1 ref + 4 scraps = 3 ref + 12 scraps = 4 ref + 3 scraps. no need to add reclaimed metals into the picture.

Yea, that's another way I can agree with, too. The refined/scrap metal idea makes it a whole lot simpler, along with doing the math in their own units, like dollars and cents.

Good idea, but it is unlikely that players will use it, because old system is working and "if it isn't broken, don't fix it"
