So instead of picking a server from my favourites today I thought I would try and find a standard stock server to play on. To my disgust all 4 servers I picked had bots disguised as players using an elaborate scheme.
These bots had the following:
--Some used cosmetics/Unlockable weapons
--Their names were also included in the steam trade menu, "Trade on server"
This led me to conlcude this was something I have not encountered before.
Typing "status" in the console listed all suspected bots with ping and STEAM ID
This surprised me so I investegated further copying the steam ID and using a steam id converter to in fact conclude it was bot players.Sample bot disguised as a real player
These bots are easy to miss without some attention paid to them.
--Medics jump up and down in the same spot, spining while doing so
--Medic will instant heal once called for
--Engies will want to build something in spawn, move in a pattern, watch other engie do the same pattern
To my knowledge Valve cracked down on these type of servers a while back issuing letters of warning and a removal from the master server list if failing to comply. It seems like they are back in force. Maybe its bad luck I picked 4 crap server in a row but they had proper tags such as, stock, rotation, registered. Some even had no ads which was lie. Just for the record none of the servers used Pinion but some other motd advertisment.
You can report a suspected server by pressing F7 then select the server option.
