Good luck. There are more of those servers than anyone would care to count

OBEY. THEY LIVE! Hey, man. Its not pinion. Its the government. They're using this to brainwash us and implant ideas!

But seriously, this is one of the first signs of a deterioration of the TF2 community. Frankly, I am surprised that Valve has even put up with it for this long. I have seen a lot of hate posts regarding it, and I feel it degrades the quality of a player's gaming experience. I am also surprised on how pervasive it is within the server community and even "popular" servers run it.

I, at first, blacklisted servers that run this. Over time now, I have found that finding a decent server has become more of a chore.

How can one combat this? Speaking up is good. One could also disable the html MOTD, but that isn't a real option since I know that you are usually the first to get kicked for a reserved slot, and I have also read somewhere that it messes with your key binds for opting out. The better option is to modify your host file, so its blocked right off the bat (you can google this if you're that interested - oh, that is at your own risk, if you mess up your computer that's your own fault).

It is also mobilizing me to create my own server without all of this nonsense. Perhaps I am a cranky old gamer who dislikes pinion, Metamucil, ads about how reverse mortgages might be work for me, and children walking on my lawn; or I feel its time that I give back to the community that I have been apart of all of these years.

Pinion pays for servers if the owner can't pay for all of it himself.

If you can't spend 30$ a month on your hobby, you need a better job.
if you do the research pinion is just another scam that inconviniences the players and doesn't give anything back to the operators.
