Sync A USB Headset's Mic To TF2
I just recently got a new Steelseries Siberia v2 Ice Blue gaming headset and I have no idea how to sync the mic to TF2. The connector is a USB so is there something I need to get for this in order to work? Or am I just epicly failing and having issues?

"Sync"?
What do you mean?
If you're running Windows, USB headsets should work immediately.

Ya you'd think that. Yes I'm running Windows but for some reason the mic wont connect to TF2. I'll get into the game, go to voice settings and if I try and test the mic the option won't stay long enough for me to test anything I'm saying. Its not the mic thats having problems because I've gone into Skype and tested it to see if it is receiving anything at all and it is.

Go into Steam>Settings>Voice and see if it works there.
Edit: Click detect audio devices and see if that works too.

Yup, it picks it up there, but I don't know why TF2 isn't

Verify your game cache.
Right click on TF2 in your library and it should be there

Just did that, nothing has changed :/ I go in to test the mic and when I hit the button it activates for a split second then stops

Is the computer plugged in?
Jokes aside, might be a virus or Steam not accepting your headset.
Try rebooting your computer, it's the #1 solution to all Windows problems.

Wow. Those are expensive.

You download the newest drivers? Could be it.

But as Witty said, restart first.

Of course thats the first thing I don't think of... restarting the computer (go me)
And ya it was expensive ($133.67 to be exact) but paying for it was nicer when I had $85 in GameStop gift cards. So I only ended up spending about $50 of my own money for it.

What sound card are you using?

Stupid question: Is the box for enabled voice checked, tranmit volume all the way to the right and boost microphone checked? You might be getting mic but you can't hear it for those reasons as they are either off or low, I know my mic is super quiet unless I have boost on.

^^ This. I was having the same problems and this was the answer.

My completely different headset has a mic switch on the headset itself, I've actually played entire matches with my mic disabled and not realised it.

No its not that its not picking up the sounds I'm making. You know how when you hit the 'test mic' button its supposed to activate and the reader shows you how loud your voice is. Well when I click the 'test mic' button it activates for not even a second before it stops, not giving me any time to test the mic
