the price of keys??

i've been trading ever since keys were 2.66 but i havent really understood why they are continuosly rising (4 ref now)! If anybody knows plz post it here.

It's those horders that want to make as much profit as possible. I thought 2.33ref was perfect. To be honest in the past year trading community has gone down the toilet and isn't even worth being around anyone who calls themselves traders. I only use trade servers and traidng sites to try get a strange weapon I want then leave as fast as possible back to the real TF2.

2 Reasons:
1. The halloween new unusual effects caused the keys to increase in value because everyone wanted to uncrate. So, demand rises and prices rise.
2. The Steam Market causes alot of people to buy keys from there, and so keys are not being introduced into the economy anymore.

There isn't enough metal to make the price almost double (which it will very soon). Especially when you consider there's more keys being put into the system too.

The supply's increased and the demand is for the most part the same. The only reason they're increasing in price is because the key-hoarders are selling them for as much as pricechecking allows them, so the pricechecks bring key prices up, so the hoarders increase their price, and repeat.

Why the key price went up was becuase of the Steam Market. Everyone could insted of buy keys from everyone would buy their strange festives/ Gen hats, weapons and whatever off the market. It is very rare to see lets say MvM tickets for lower than 0.99$ steam price on market. And when people are selling the Gen.Deus Specs on Outpost for 5 key and you can buythe 5 keys with real money people would just buy the cheap 3$ Gen Specs off market saving like 10 dollars. It was more of a price push you can find some people still selling keys for 2.66 but very rare. Best bet is to buy Genuines and Strange Festives off the Market now for when craft hats and or Stranges go up get ready for a major price push for everything else.

lol no. key prices have been rising since before the dawn of time, community market has had no effect whatsoever on that. the real answer lies in the understanding of a market forming when a willing buyer and willing seller reach an agreement for a transaction. in other words, some guy with a key wants to sell it for more than its worth (what ever price other folks are selling it at) and eventually some other guy whos desperate enough to pay extra for no reason does. and then you just rinse and repeat and that is why keys have gone up in price, essentially people allow it to and will continue to do so. the end

Well, It helps that the people selling the keys in bulk at a higher price. I buy 2 keys for 2.66 and sell them for 3.66 and make a extra key profit. For saying that keys havebeen raising in price since the dawn of time would be wrong considering that ou already said that prices are controlled by the person selling. Also having more years on steam would help to. the end mister F2P scrub.

cause having x number of years under ones belt as opposed to y years is a perfect indicator of market knowledge, rite? and yea keys have been rising in price since forever. long before community marketplace was even a thing

Age (x Numbers of years) does help in trading, You must have been muted alot on of servers with your 6 year old attitude. You must understand that I was only using the market as one of the reasons the price of keys has went up. It's not like is said "MARKET IS THE REASON KEYS ARE 4 REFINED", Please take your G.I. Joe outside in the sandbox and play your little games. :)

Why keys cost so much now...
1). Pick your own price, your buying them so pay the price that your willing to find. If not buying selling sell for a price the person is willing to pay for. Reasoning is one reason that the keys can go up in price.
2). Steam Community Market, prices go all over the place with this cause of items going more in-game and out of game. For them rich folk with them plastic money cards.
3).6 year olds with acess to their fathers credit card, kids who don't know the Team Fortress 2 Market and sit around watching a guy get stumped in the ♥♥♥. <3 F2P scrub ttyl /kiss
