I'm assuming you're new to the game. The thing is, TF2 doesn't work like most FPS's, every single class has different roles to play. You really should rephrase you;re question into something like: "Which class does the most DPS in mid-range?" or "Which class is best at taking out _____?" And lastly, try out some of the classes first, and see which one fits your play style, and feels comfortable. But hey, I see what you mean, I was there once too. HAve fun!

Hey, the kid is going out of his way to get some advice, even though he is asking the wrong question you should cut him some slack.

I guess you could say that the Medic is the most important class, but everyone has a role.

it really depends on what you like and your gameplay style; for example I love explosives (mainly rockets) and I play best as soldier, but others might epic when it comes to sniping so therfore they are best at sniper, but regardless each has a use, maybe even hidden uses that you can find, it's like a giant rock paper scissors really, but it's up to you to find what's best for you. :D

You're very right, every class does a different job which acts for, or against a different class.

That's VERY debateable, the most important class really varies between game types.

Medic is important in virtually all situations. In CTF, Medic is vital for attacking. Hell, I can
even give a Scout a Megaheal, and he can run past those 2 sentries without an ounce of
effort, leaving the enemy team wondering how the hell they got the breifcase.

In Attack and Defend, the Medic can use an Uber and push his team to victory, or
use a Kritzkrieg and blow through the entire enemy team, wasting valuable seconds of
their clock on defense.

In Payload, same goes, except it is just a bit longer, however the enemy team will have to
worry about 7 overhealed people pushing the cart, and no one wants to deal with that.

Now, I can go on and on and on about the Medic's usefullness in every individual mode,
but you get my point. However, Medic is not useful without people to support him.
Remember, it's "TEAM Fortress 2", not "Heavy Soldier Demoman Scout Fortress 2".
