game settings and computer heating

TF2 and some other games are starting to heat my computer up so much that it shuts itself off. I'm just wondering if changing the video settings and lowering them will help out with my computer heating up. I use a laptop. Since there are a lot of of choices to choose from in the options i just want to know which ones will help the most. I think im at the highest settings right now which is the recommended choice but I don't really think it is. Thanks for your time in reading this. I want to go back to playing tf2 and other games as well.

Highest settings? Laptop? No chance- lower them to mid-low for a Laptop. If you want to play it on max, get a Pc tower- Laptops generally get stuck with 'Intel HD Graphics' even in the £700 Range (which you probably have), and even 5 year old graphics cards can outperform it.

Anyway, experiement until you get around 30FPS min. Something goes wrong? Return to default and start afresh. Post back your results with this, thanks.
