[Ubuntu] Can't connect to server.

I have laptop with i3 2.1Ghz, hd3000, 3 gb ram and ubuntu 12.04.
I'm trying to connect random tf2 server and it stucks on "retrieving server information" (I think it loads resources), so I can wait 5...10 minutes and nothing happens. While loading I can't use anything except terminal - any action performs for more than 20 seconds, cpu loading 30 - 40%, ram - 2.6gb.
Is there any way to speed up tf2 server connection?

I think it is actually loading the game files.
So just be patient and wait a little more and it should work.

No, the Linux version is dreadful and that's it.
If you want any luck, run it under WINE.
