Buds will be more rare the TUX

You can get the TUX free but you cant get buds free...
you wait you peps to download TF2 for LINUX

By the end of the event, there will be NO MORE than 40K Tuxes AT MOST. There are currently 57K Earbuds. DO THE MATH.

It's silly to speculate on how much they're worth, but I'm fairly sure that Buds will be worth more, and not because of their rarity; Buds are essentially an established currency, specifically for high value items. While they may be rare, the value they hold is partially due to how every trader acknowledges the value they theoretically hold, not solely due to rarity, but due to how every trader is willing to accept them as currency for items, while this is not the case for other items.

If the Tux is both acknowledged as a currency by the vast majority of traders and has more rarity, it may be worth more than Buds, but this is a prospect that will only be verified by time, rather than speculation.

The rather problem of instantly saying this it's because of many other rarer items than buds and still became less worth than people expected.
Of course, greedy people will try to exploit the statistics of each item to make profit.
This isn't new to be honest, this happened to the Robot Chicken.
The only part that needs to be discussed is the fact there won't be anymore after that (can't get one by crafting). So it may starts very low and much later uprising the price.

But i'd rather give up on how the trading community will decide. So much to talk and yet.. thinking about a new currency is a little terrible. Of course, anything to implode the current market.

Resurrection Associate Pin has 8547 and isn't obtainable anymore so that should be worth more then buds but its worth 1 key. Just because it is rare doesn't mean it is worth anything it has to have a demand which is why buds is expensive. Buds look good and don't clash with any miscs so you can wear it with glasses, badages and other misc slot items. Tux isn't very big and it behind the player model so it is hard to notice. They said this about all the new promos that come out and a week later they are worth a key.

I think it will be slightly less than buds but not immediately. Probably after about 3 or 4 months past the events end.

well, it also looks identical to the companion cube pin of which there are more than almost any other misc item
