12.10

Please don't tell me I need to restart from scratch because of this.
oh man... you should had used 12.04 wich is what steam supports.
dont worry you can still get it running on 12.10 but you need to do the following steps:

1- open the software center
2- search and install linux-source ( it will show Linux Kernel source with ubuntu patches)
3- search and install linux-headers-generic ( it will show Generic linux Hearders)

now you can install the drivers.
"6- after you installed and booted ubuntu on the top right coner there is a gear syblom that looks like a shutdown button, press it and go into system settings. from there go to repositorys and install the latest GPU drivers and reboot."

If you need help installing the drivers i found this video on youtube in less then 15 seconds that should help you: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ioMeSCoyYng "

im dealing with that same issue with other person on the right now, i recommended him to try Ubuntu 13.04 wich comes with a new kenerl and new Mesa drivers you could try it yourself also heres a link:
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/

let us know if it works or not.
if you have stuff you cant lose on your pc i recommend you to dual both with ubuntu (whatever you use) and ubuntu 13.04 because ubuntu 13.04 is a alpha version still.
