IF YOU ARE UNDER THE AGE OF 20 AND DON'T KNOW ABOUT COMPUTERS, DON'T TRY TO INSTALL LINUX
YOU WILL JUST ENDED UP ♥♥♥♥ING UP YOUR COMPUTER, WIPING ABOUT EVERYTHING ON YOUR DRIVE AND REPLACING EVERYTHING WITH LINUX. YOU WILL THEN HAVE TO REINSTALL EVERYTHING, WHICH HAS A HIGH CHANCE OF BEING BROKEN.

Err, I know 14 year olds that use Linux like a playdoll. Has nothing to do with age I believe.

I started using Linux with 9 years old: You need to be stupid enough to do that.

If you don't know about computers, you shouldn't be doing things with it beyond USING them.

I would go as far as to argue that one shouldn't even use a computer without a basic understanding of how they work.

I actually haven't downloaded Linux yet. I actually don't like downloading stuff to my computer because idk what it'll do to it. I even have second thoughts when purchasing a game from Steam.

FINALLY we needed a post saying this. Linux is NOT for people who don't know jack squat about computers.

Indeed. I know more than the average joe does but I still almost screwed everything up.

*tinfoil hat time*

Then again this entire thread may just be a place for traders to scare away people from linux so that they don't attempt to acquire a tux, meaning that there will be less tuxes, which means that they will be more valuable to those that don't have them.

It might be prudent to create a few alternate accounts even if they're f2p accounts. If they end up being worth a lot someone will buy premium gifts for them and you'll have a bunch of idle-ready alts that have been paid-for by others, and if they end up being worthless, you won't have lost anything other than some time spent making alts. I won't be doing this, because I don't play tf2 for the sole purpose of exploiting the mannconomy, but I'm sure plenty of others will be doing it.

I'm not a trader trying scare everyone off to try to make the penguins have more value.

Well the installation of Ubuntu or basicly any newer linux os is pretty much easy and self-explonary, I really don't know how ANYBODY with basic computer knowledge can mess THAT up. Just read. Read what it says.

I've ran into multiple people that didn't even know how to copy/paste.
Many don't even have "basic" computer knowledge.

I know that kind of people. In 90% of all cases they are the cause of errors instead of anything else.

I installed linux on my computer when I was in 3rd grade, it's not all that hard. And If you don't want to lose anything then just partition your hard drive.

Anyone know if a virtualized OS is powerful and stable enough to run TF2? I don't want to install Ubuntu for real. VirtualBox or something else will have to do. I just want the penguin. lol
