Team Fortress 2

Low Performance?
I can play most games with at least medium settings (Half Life 2 on high or highest) but for some reason Team Fortress can't be played at anything other than minimum graphics settings and my laptop still gets hot playing it. Picture of my specs. Wondering if anyone else has noticed Team Fortress uses more resources than other games?

I know that feel...

I have dota 2 maxed out but have to run TF2 on bare minimum settings.

Mostly, I think it's because TF2 uses a 5 YEAR OLD version of the source engine. Newer versions are both better optimized, and take better advantage of modern hardware features...

I think.

Half-Life 2 has probably not been updated to have nearly as many detailed models and textures relative to TF2, and a 6470M HD is low-end even for laptop video.

TF2 is poorly optimized.

I would recommend cleaning out your laptop, defragging the computer, running Game Booster, defragging cache files and validating them.

Canada man
London Drugs sold it to me. Got a massive discount from a Back To School sale, then an extra $120 off because I requested the floor model instead of the new one in the back. Sure it's got some milage but $400? I'll take it and when it dies I'll take another $400 laptop
