Weird static sound when firing certain weapons
Could someone help me please? I hear a static sound when I fire guns like the Pretty Boy's Pocket Pistol and the Cow Mangler. The sound was okay a few days ago, then it started today. I don't have a sound card. I'm running on Windows 8. Well, earlier, I did update Windows, and after I restarted, I opened up TF2, went into a server, chose scout and used my pistol. It made a distorted noise and did too with some other weapons. I really need someone to help me. The sound is annoying and I can't concentrate.

If you think that is bad, about 1/5 times I fire or taunt with the huntsman, I get a loud, booming foghorn sound come out of nowhere.

Maybe your speakers are dying out on you.

Meh, this computer is new. I never put a sound card in hear. It worked fine without one until today

Well, they could have just broken down, I bought a pair of head-phones and they broke apart in two days. Either look into new speakers or a sound card, that could be your problem.

Nope, it works fine on other devices. Should I just try re-installing TF2?

I have no idea.

actually no there's a known fix

go to console and type in: unbindall

it restarts the engine to optimize it, and often fixes graphical and audio errors

give it a try it works 93% time

oh you

@OP: Check the sound options in TF2 to make sure the quality/volume isn't messed up

If that doesn't work then try verifying your game cache
It is maybe that you have custom weapon sounds and you are playing on a server that doesn't allow mods. It happens to me because I have custom sounds.

The same problem happens to me sometimes with Monoculus. I don't even have any mods for him.
