How can you ACTUALLY profit from scrapbanking?
Note: THIS IS NOT AN ADVERTISEMENT. I am not advertising ANYTHING, whether it's a server of my backpack or... just no. On to the question:

In what universe does anyone actually benefit from scrapbanking? I have been scrapbanking for over 2 weeks now and I have profited about 1 rec from doing this. I have tried various servers, various ad techniques, and literally nothing works. So how can one actually build up to a decent item from scrapbanking? Thank you in advance.

1 weapon = 1 scrap

People give 2 weapons for 1 scrap, and buy 2 weapons for 2 scrap

So each trade = 1 scrap profit.

i would say persistense and a lot of free time..... a LOT, when i scrap banked and sold normal weapons i would make on average 1.6-4 ref every two hours. sometimes i would find someone who wanted a lot of weapons and didnt need me to explain why im selling for a scrap instead of just another weapon, sometimes i would run into that person and explain the process and reason behind it. The most i ever made in one week was 4 keys from the metal i receieved and smelted, either way when i look at it i always see it as a loss really, because i know i could have been doing something more productive...... that would have resulted in me having more hats. i mean that last bit sincerely scrap banking and selling normal weapons take to much time to really feel like you have met the breaking point where you know you have made an in-game profit (metal, keys). if you were more courageous why not try gambling in game? thats at least more fun.

Are you doing all this on TRADE ONLY servers? If so, then there's your issue... people on htere have hats and want hats not crumby weapons that they will get most likley next time they get a drop.

yeah i did that exlusively on trade servers it cutdown on the amount of people who needed explanations about the concept of scrapbanking and why they were giving me 2 weapons for one, plus plenty of people still need normal weapons even the wealthy and well hat'ed.

That is exactly right. The more weapons you have, the more you have to offer, and the more people will spend scrap on. Since you earn 2 weapons for a scrap, and sell the weapons for scrap, you slowly gain profit.
